Italy: The world’s healthiest country

According to the Bloomberg Global Health Index, Italy is the healthiest country in the World.

Out of the 163 countries it that someone born in Italy can expect to live well into their eighties. This is quite a difference compared to the average age of death in Sierra Leone being 52.

Italy is among the most developed countries but they have still had their struggles. This hasn’t stopped them from trumping every other country in terms of health.

Not only did the index look at physical health, but they also looked at mental health. Guess what? Italy had the best mental health too.

Their diet has a big impact on the state of their health as it is rich with fresh produce, fruit and veg, plenty of protein and oily fish.

Each country in the index was graded on a range of variables. These variables were life expectancy, causes of death and health risks ranging from blood pressure to the availability of clean water. Iceland, Switzerland, Singapore and Australia rounded out the top five most-healthy countries in the index.

So if you want to live a long and healthy life, head to Italy! (As if we needed an excuse).
