Viewpoint: Piazza del Popolo

The Piazza del Popolo in Todi is one of the best-preserved medieval squares in Italy and very much the focal point of this scenic Umbrian town…

Piazza del Popolo Todi, Italy

This photograph of Todi’s Piazza del Popolo was taken from the steps of the Cathedral, which before the 15th century had stood more centrally in what was then a much larger piazza. At the other end, on the left, are two palaces that today between them house the Museo e Pinacoteca di Todi, where you can find out all about the extraordinary history of this ancient Umbrian city, right back to the days of the Etruscans.
